CASE STUDY 3 : INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Health care is compromised when information is not fully shared among all the participants in the process. Currently, no clear methodology or case law exists to assure necessary communication among caregivers.

To unblock this flow of information, HMC was retained by a major university system to analyze the coordination of care between the medical community and mental health provider system.

After an extensive survey, we developed a database and series of recommendations that balanced the privacy needs of patients with the information-gathering requirements of providers.

The outcome? A clear policy that results in informed mental health care delivery to a vulnerable patient population.
